It is with great sadness that I inform the members of CAWG of the passing of Cadet Jason Paton, a former member of Squadron 47 at Camp Pendleton, who went on to be a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Jason had done two tours in Afghanistan and was most recently stationed in Hawaii when he accepted a tour in Iraq. He was killed in a helicopter crash near Multaka in August. Since beginning his active duty career, Jason kept in touch when he was in San Diego, but had few permanent ties left in the area, so we are just now learning of this tragedy.
We remember Jason as an extraordinary cadet who was especially dedicated to mentoring the younger cadets in the unit. .
This is the third Squadron 47 cadet lost in Iraqi Freedom.
Please keep Jason, his family and friends in your prayers.
