CAP members,
It is with a sad heart that I write to tell you that Capt. Burt Kingsbury, Redding CA, has died. Burt was found deceased at his home from natural causes on Tuesday April 8th. Burt, in his mid 80's, has been active in CAP since the 1960's. He has been the only IC in the far north state for many years. He was also active with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team. On the Saturday prior to his death he participated in a SAR exercise west of Shasta Dam. His advise, counsel, and spirit is already missed.
Memorial services are yet to be finalized as there are family members currently out of the country. Local family members have told the Squadron Liaison that they are trying to set the service for either 22, 23, or 24 April. When we have more information we will pass it to the Wing.
Questions may be directed to Squadron Commander John Watt.
Sincerely,
John Watt, 1Lt CAP
